The heart of any window is the glass system it supports. Quantum2 uses Power-Q glass, one of the highest performing residential glass systems on the planet. Power-Q is so superior to other glass systems that we guarantee it will save you 49% on your heating and cooling energy consumption. Power-Q uses two outer panes of double strength low emissivity glass (commonly known as Low-E). Double strength glass is twice as strong as standard single strength glass and provides the home owner with an added level of protection. Each pane is coated with Low-E, which actually reflects heat away from your house in the summer and back into your house in winter.
In between these two panes of glass is Heat Mirror™, a clear, colorless film layer that separates the "dead air" space into two individual chambers. Heat Mirror™ performs many valuable functions that saves you energy dollars and protects your home and family. Heat Mirror™ is coated with a microscopic metallic substance that greatly improves the insulation characteristics of the overall glass package. This coating also works in conjunction with the Low-E glass in preventing harmful Ultraviolet (UV) rays from entering your home. UV radiation is emitted by the sun and can damage fabrics on curtains and furniture.
Heat Mirror™ also provides additional sound dampering qualities. Because it has a different thickness than the double strength glass, Heat Mirror™ aids in reducing the amount of noise that is transferred through the window, making your home a quieter, more comfortable place to live.
By separating the internal "dead air" space between the two panes, Heat Mirror™ creates two hermetically sealed chambers. The air in these chambers is replaced by Krypton, a clear inert gas that greatly improves the insulation qualities of Power-Q.
